Quinticlave
Quinticlave [Lat. quintus, five + clavis, key], low-pitched keyed bugle in F or Eb invented by Halary (Jean-Hilaire Asté) of Paris, and submitted to the Académie des Beaux-Arts in 1817, so named to indicate its pitch, a 5th lower than the keyed bugle. Made in bassoon shape, it had 9 or 10 keys. Halary was unable to patent it before 1821. It was also known as quintitube and was later developed into the *ophicleide (89 Langwill).
