Serpent Piffault
Serpent Piffault serpent in upright form, devised for military bands by Piffault of Paris in 1806. Its form made it considerably easier to manage, especially when marching, than the serpentine model. Also called serpent militaire (126). Langwill, Lyndesay G. An Index of Musical Wind-instrument Makers, 1st and 2nd editions. Edinburgh, 1960, 1962.
