Xylosistron
Xylosistron friction xylophone invented by Uthe of Sangerhausen in 1807 or 1808, a variation on Ernst Friedrich Chladni's euphone. It consisted of a set of graduated wooden bars laid horizontally and stroked by the player's rosin-coated gloves. Cf. triphone, xylharmonicon (169). Sachs, Curt. Handbuch der Musikinstrumentenkunde.
