Bellis
> LIBRETTIST
Bellis (?; ?), librettist, earned only momentary prominence in his day by collaborating with Roy on the libretto for Le Temple de Gnide in 1741 (see seventeenth-century volume for Roy). Subsequently he manifested little or no interest in the lyric theatre, and he slipped into oblivion so completely that even the dates of his birth and death, his complete name, and his other interests and ambitions have been forgotten.
