Berton, François-Henri

Berton, François-Henri (3 May 1784, Paris; 19 July 1832, Paris), composer, was the grandson of Pierre-Montan Berton and the natural son of Mlle Maillard and Henri-Montan Berton. His mother was a singer at the Opéra. His father directed his musical studies, and he wrote romances and other short pieces before beginning his theatrical career at the Opéra-Comique with M.
