Taglioni, Filippo

Taglioni, Filippo (5 November 1777, Milan; 11 February 1871, Como), Italian dancer and choreographer, made his debut on the stage at Pisa in 1794, and he spent the next few years filling engagements at theatres in northern Italy. In 1799 he went to Paris to study under the direction of Jean-François Coulon and to make his first appearance at the Opéra.
