Le Comte De Carmagnola , with a score by Ambroise Thomas and a libretto by Eugène Scribe, was billed as an opera in two acts. It was a failure and had to be dropped after its eighth performance on 20 August 1841. It had had its premiere at the Opéra on 19 April 1841 and appears to have been withdrawn for revision after its third presentation on 23 April because it was not returned to the stage until 23 June 1841.
