Le Guerillero

Le Guerillero was billed as an opera in two acts with a score by Ambroise Thomas and a libretto by Théodore Anne. It had its world premiere at the Royal Academy of Music on 22 June 1842 with sets by Séchan , Despléchin , and Diéterle . The action of the opera transpires in Portugal, near Oporto during 1640 when this country broke with Spain to place Duke Juan de Bragance on the throne with the title of Don Juan IV.
