Mefistofele , with a libretto and score by Arrigo Boïto, is an opera in a prologue, four acts, and an epilogue based upon Goethe ’s Faust and presented in two parts. It had its world premiere at La Scala in Milan on 5 March 1868. It was taken to Bologna in 1875 and was billed initially in London and New York during 1880.
