Segarelli, Domenico (3 August 1820, Naples; March 1860, Turin), ballerina, was imported by the Opéra to dance the part of Conrad in the wildly romantic ballet d’action entitled Le Corsaire. His dark features, flashing eyes, and menacing air made him totally suited for the role. The ballet was approved withour reservation at its premiere on 23 January 1856.
