La Vendetta was offered to the public as an opera in three acts with a score by Henri Ruolz-Montchal and a libretto by Léon Pillet and Adolphe Vannois . It had its world premiere at the Paris opera house on 11 September 1839, but it did not arouse much enthusiasm and was withdrawn temporarily from the stage for revision and compression after its seventh production on 11 October 1839.
