Double Song
Double Song The trickiest kind of song to compose, consisting of two different melodies and lyrics for the same chorus, each sung separately and then combined (requiring two people to sing). Irving Berlin wrote four of them across his career (“Simple Melody” in 1914, “ You ’re Just in Love” in 1950, “Empty Pockets Filled with Love” in 1962, and “An Old Fasioned Wedding” in 1966). Harold Arlen wrote one in 1945 (“June Comes Around Every Year”).
