Melrose Brothers Music Company The Melrose firm solidified Chicago’s position as the preeminent jazz city during the 1920s. The Melrose brothers , Walter and Lester, along with Marty Bloom, owned a music shop in Chicago before adding a music publishing business to it early in 1923.
