Austrian lecturer and composer. Vienna, January 15, 1878; Vienna, April 19, 1941. Her mother was a gifted instrumentalist and singer. Johanna began composing in her childhood and became a pupil of Karl Nawratil and Josef Labor. Later she studied under Guido Adler, Alexander von Zemlinsky and J.B. Forester; whom she succeeded as teacher of music theory at the New Conservatory, Vienna in 1915.
