Tuskiya [Túskeeyuh], Iona Irakliyevich (12–11/24–1901, Ozurgeti [now Makharadze, Georgia]; 10–8–1963, Paris). Grad. 1926 from the Tbilisi Cons., where he studied comp. with Barkhudaryan and Ippolitov-Ivanov and also vn. Continued his training with V. Shcherbachyov at the L. Cons.; grad. 1931. Joined the faculty of the Tbilisi Cons. in 1932 and chaired its comp. dept. from 1952–61. Among his students were Azarashvili, Chkheidze, Gabichvadze, Gordeli, Kancheli, Nasidze, T. Shaverzashvili…
