Data Compression In digital-audio systems, it can be any of several algorithms designed to reduce the bandwidth requirements for accurate digital audio storage and transmission. The audible consequences of data compression will vary, depending on the degree of compression and the quality of the algorithm used, and the best systems will be subjectively transparent.
