C'est ainsi que tu es (FR) That Is the Way You Are. Poulenc's setting (1943, Métamorphoses #2) for voice and piano of a poem by Vilmorin not found in her collected poems. The poem's original title is »Le Portrait,« but Poulenc had already set a poem by Colette with the same title, so Vilmorin suggested using the seventh line of the poem as the title. Poulenc writes: »Sing »C'est ainsi que tu es« above all without affectation.« The song is dedicated to Marthe Bosredon.
