Pablo Picasso

Pablo Picasso Poulenc's setting (1956, Le Travail du peintre #1) for voice and piano of the first of seven mini-poems that make up the longer poem, »Le Travail du peintre,« from Poésie ininterrompue (Uninterrupted Poetry, 1946) by Eluard. The poem was first published in Labyrinth on 15 June 1945. The initial musical theme is virtually the same as the motif for Mother Marie and »courage« in Poulenc's opera Dialogues des Carmelites (1957). See Picasso, Pablo.
