Paganini

Paganini Poulenc's setting (1943, Métamorphoses #3) for voice and piano of a poem by Vilmorin, unpublished in any source. Poulenc had a manuscript of the three »Métamorphoses« poems, with »Le Sable du sablier« (The Sandman's Sand, title of a later volume of Vilmorin's poetry) crossed out, replaced by »Le Miroir du sort« (The Mirror of Destiny), supposedly given to him by Bernac, who was disappointed that all the prior Vilmorin settings were for women's voices.
