SALONEN, ESA-PEKKA (, Helsinki), composer, French hornist, conductor, appointed conductor of the Los Angeles Philharmonic in 1992.
Salonen studied French horn, and composition with Einojuhani Rautavaara at the Sibelius Academy from 1973 to 1977, and continued for a diploma in conducting with Jorma Panula in 1980.
