Kingira

Kingira *stick zither of India, with gourd resonator, described by Arab. authors Al Jahiz (d. 868) and Al-Masudi (d. 956) as having one string stretched over a gourd. Possibly an adaptation of the vīnā, it was pop. in Persia in the 14th c. and was still played there in the 17th c. (75 II). Farmer, Henry George.
