Alain et Rosette

Alain et Rosette with a score by Pouteau and a libretto by Bouthillier was offered as an intermède in a single act at the Palais-Royal. The printed edition of the libretto described it as a composition in the newly established manner of Le Devin du village, but its origin did not protect it against complete failure: it had its premiere on 10 January 1777 and was dropped permanently from the repertory after its second representation two days later on 12 January 1777.
