Deucalion et Pirrha

Deucalion et Pirrha is an opéra-ballet in a single act with a libretto by Saint-Foix and music by François-Joseph Giraud and Pierre-Montan Berton (see seventeenth-century volume for opéra-ballet). It had its world premiere at Paris on 30 September 1755, but it did not prove popular or substantial enough to merit a revival. Le Journal de l’Opéra gives only the date of its first performance, and the receipt books for 1755 are lost so that no record exists for the duration of its first run. Mlle…
