Praxitèle ou la ceinture was offered as an opera in a single act with a libretto by Milcent and a score by Mme Jeanne-Hippolyte Moyroud Devismes , whose husband was director of the Opéra at the time of the premiere of her work there on 24 July 1800. It was not very well received and returned only 1,305 francs to the box office when it was produced by itself three days after its first representation.
