Blau, Edouard (1836; 1906, Paris), librettist, wrote the libretto used by Eugène Diaz in his La Coupe du roi de Thulé . which Georges Bizet also selected for his unproduced work of the same title. In 1885, he created the texts for Jules Massenet ’s Le Cid with L. Gallet and for Joncière’s Le Chevalier Jean given without success at the Opéra-Comique. Edouard Lalo ’s popular Le Roi d’Ys was a hit at this latter theatre in 1888 with a score set to his words, and the two following years saw him…
