Herbert, Victor

Victor Herbert Composer Dublin, Ireland, February 1, 1859; New York City, May 24, 1924, shortly after completing a tune and sending it to his arranger for scoring. Herbert was educated in Germany and studied cello at Stuttgart Conservatory. He married Theresa Forster, principal soprano of the Stuttgart Opera, and they came to New York in the summer of 1886 for her engagement at the Metropolitan Opera House.
