Alcindor

Alcindor is a fairyland opera in three acts with a score by Dezède, a libretto by Rochon de Chabannes, and choreography by Pierre-Gabriel Gardel. It was given its premiere on 17 April 1787 and was revised ruthlessly after this performance on account of the boisterous public reaction to it. The numerous changes made in the text after its initial representation delayed its second billing until 20 April, but it then went on to enjoy another 13 stagings by 5 June.
