La Vestale

La Vestale is an opera in three acts with a score by Gasparo Spontini and a libretto by Jouy . It had its world premiere at the Imperial Academy of Music in Paris on 15 December 1807. It was highly successful from every point of view and won the award given by the Institut de France for the best composition created during the previous decade.
